Lightworks
LightWorks is an audio reactive light installation in a darkened space that responds to external environmental sounds and a composed soundtrack.
Sustainability is a significant aspect of LightWorks. The artworks incorporate reused materials sourced from local op-shops and re-use centres such as Sydney’s Reverse Garbage. Items such as plastic bottles, foam mattresses, and glassware are creatively repurposed to diffuse light, giving them a new life in the art installation.
The found items used in the artworks not only contribute to sustainability but also make each artwork unique. The choice of materials informs the design and aesthetics of each piece, adding a distinct character to the overall installation.
One of the central features of LightWorks is its audio reactivity. The artworks not only respond to the composed soundtrack but also react to live sounds, such as footsteps or vocalisations from the audience. This interactivity adds an element of unpredictability and engagement, making the installation dynamic, playful and responsive to its surroundings. LightWorks is a networked installation with each artwork connected via WiFi to share a common microphone. LightWorks is a creative and sustainable art installation that combines audio reactivity, reuse of materials, 3D printing, and networked technology to create a unique and immersive audio/visual experience.
